“Listen up! You big shot bullies, who walk the halls each day, and who I saw this very morning, knock down a ‘special needs’ boy and then laugh. I also witnessed cheerleaders calling a little girl, with a disfigured face, a ‘freak’ and a ‘retard’. Additionally, I heard the school administrators had voted not to allow the same girl to compete in the local Spelling Bee because her disfigurement would be too distracting.”

What would happen if you bullies used your influence and popularity to turn that negative behavior around?  Perhaps offer to volunteer in the ‘special needs’ class for extra credit. Maybe be the voice for those who do not speak so they can be better understood. Be seen helping a ‘special needs’ young person learn skills so they can be in the Special Olympics. Many ‘special needs’ young people admire your athletic abilities and want to be like you and be your friend.

Just think for a moment on what a difference you might make!!
